“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans in their affliction”
There is a crisis in the world today. It is a crisis much greater than those we read about in today’s headlines, greater than the problems that consume governments. It is the loss of a generation. Children in developing countries are being lost to poverty, hunger and the overwhelming traumas of daily life. For many of these precious children, life is a day-to-day struggle to numb the pain of hunger or to find a place to lay their head. One in three of these children has no adequate shelter. One in seven has no health care. More than two million children die each year simply because they were not immunized. For those who survive, any hopes or dreams are forgotten in the struggle to survive.
I ask you: What if these children were meant to be doctors, pastors, teachers or parents? What diseases would they cure? How many lives might they influence as schoolteachers? How many people would hear the Gospel from them? What if just one such lost child had the chance to touch another life? Yet these pastors, doctors and parents of tomorrow may never have the opportunity.
In our travels, we have seen these children’s situations firsthand. They run up to us with outstretched hands and expectation in their eyes. We believe God has called us to minister to the needs of these children across the globe. We have been focusing efforts on orphanages and centers for children living on the streets, along with educational programs for underprivileged children. Through our programs, children in Russia, Brazil, Kenya, Uganda, Romania, Cambodia and other countries are given a chance at life.
This generation cannot be lost or forgotten. Our world needs the impact that God intends them to make on families, neighbors, communities and societies. Please join with us as we help these children to make their dreams a reality.
