I am convinced the Lord is trying to break through to his people as never before.

As Scripture predicts, the devil has come down with great wrath, knowing his time is short. And right now God’s people need a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit, a supernatural touch even greater than the one at Pentecost.

Dearly Beloved:

“…SUCH AS I HAVE, I GIVE TO YOU” (see Acts 3:6).

Peter and John went to the temple to pray. Near the gate called “Beautiful,” they came upon a crippled beggar who asked for a handout. This man had been crippled since birth, and daily he was carried to that spot to beg for alms. Peter and John fixed their gazes on him and said, “Look on us. Silver and gold have we none, but such as we have, we give to you. Rise up and walk.” The man was instantly healed, jumping up and dancing into the temple.

When I began working on this message, the Wall Street Journal reported that the entire world had come under a great cloud of fear. People in all nations are now paralyzed by world events. Immediately, my thoughts turned to our parishioners at Times Square Church. They show no such fear. Instead, while we all have a great soberness about these times, we also have a deep, abiding joy.

Dearly Beloved:

“PASTOR DAVID, YOU SPEAK SO MUCH ABOUT HARD TIMES COMING. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I'VE BEEN LIVING HARD TIMES FOR YEARS.”

These words came to me by mail from a frustrated prisoner who has been reading my messages for a number of years. He was not condemning me; he simply said he was just very tired of years of hard times and prayed for some good news.

As I read through the Old Testament, I find my faith greatly encouraged by the example David set. An awful calamity struck this man causing his very life to be threatened by those closest to him. I am awed by David’s determination to get a word from God in the midst of his perilous time.

Dearly Beloved:

JESUS SAID, “I AM POWER AND COMPASSION.”

“Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way” (Matthew 15:32).

We are to listen carefully to biblical prophecies, but we are not to become obsessed with them.

For years, I have been faithfully warning of a soon-to-come worldwide economic holocaust. Right now, we are seeing this coming to pass around the globe. I have warned that Christians are going to suffer, that there will be great loss and hardship, and already this is happening. Multitudes of precious saints all over the word are now enduring great financial and mental stress.

As awful as these things are, none of them should be the focus of our energies and ministry. Rather, we must continue proclaiming the love of God the Father and the tender mercy of our Savior Jesus for us.

Dearly Beloved:

In my prayer walk today, I asked the Holy Spirit to give me a word of hope and strength for these troubling times.

I want to share with you what I heard the Lord speaking to my concerns. I strongly believe God still speaks to his children today. Let me summarize what was made known to me:

There may still be a short respite from the financial crisis — but it would be a mercy call to repentance, both to wicked society and to an apathetic church.

It will come down to this:
